\"\"<\/a>For the past two months, we have been on the Mbinudita site<\/strong><\/h4>\n

As mentioned above, we have been in the field for two months every day and my faith, although I am a little tired all the same, is that we are making remarkable progress in the achievements of socio-sanitary projects, in particular, the Water Connections project, on the Mbinudita site.<\/p>\n

This evening, very late (when almost all of the East Sumba region is without electricity, the only PLN production plant in the area had burned down)<\/em>,\u00a0the entire Kawan<\/a><\/span>\u00a0Baik Indonesia<\/a> and Fair Future Foundation<\/a> team are back from our school in #sdmbinudita.<\/p>\n

We built this school between 2019 and 2021. It has more than 120 children aged 7 to 12, all living in rural areas with no electricity or direct water access.<\/p>\n

In these 360-degree images<\/a>, you can see that building here was the ultimate challenge. Indeed, when we started the #rebuildmbinudita or #bangunmbinudita project, there was no water access or electricity here. We built this huge, beautiful school on the highest hill in the area, over a two-hour drive from Waingapu.<\/p>\n

We purchased and transported almost all the materials used to build this school from Surabaya. This included the metal structure (several tens of tons), all the bricks (more than 15,000)<\/em>, and other materials that were impossible to find here in Sumba East, all shipped in more than two containers.<\/p>\n

Today, as I said above, the school has more than 120 children who come there daily. Since June 25, 2022, the school has become a public school (Negeri)<\/em>, and two more classes will be added soon. Since our investment here, the number of students has increased from 60 to 120.<\/p>\n

Also, today, a large number of villagers (more than 2,500 people -the majority of whom are children)<\/em>\u00a0have access to clean, non-lethal water, thanks to our better health access program (#kawansehat)<\/em>, which is part of the #waterconnections project.<\/p>\n

The Water Connections program has been running in the field for 12 months. It aims to find the best solutions to provide clean water access to families who have never had it. We drill deep wells to access clean, healthy water.<\/p>\n

Then we distribute this water using fittings and pipes that we bury, and store itstore it in concrete Ferro-cement tanks that we build ourselves, with our hands. We filter this water using a process that combines natural materials, innovation, ecology and ingenuity.<\/p>\n

For a few months -thanks to the Water Connections program<\/a>–<\/em>, the families are feeling healthier, happier and have much more energy. The villagers, who are 100% farmers,<\/strong>\u00a0are much less sick and in better health. They create vegetable gardens and build an economy.<\/p>\n

Women and children spend much less time fetching water from wells far from homes. As a result, children spend more time in school, and adults have more time to do things they couldn’t do before. On the other hand, water remains the top priority for each of the 250 families<\/strong> in #mbinudita, well before everything else!<\/p>\n

Today, we are building healthy sanitary facilities for the village and the villagers. Like all other families living in ultra-rural areas, people have never had access to toilets, a place to bathe, or a place to do laundry.<\/p>\n

The toilets we build use the Ferro-cement manufacturing process and are built on the sites of the neighbourhoods, by the villagers and our field teams. This will be the subject of a separate article, which we will be happy to publish soon.<\/p>\n

The school, the ten sanitary facilities, and the more than ten 6,500-litre tanks were also built by teams from the Fair Future<\/a> and Kawan Baik Indonesia<\/a> foundations and by all the villagers. We still have several sanitary facilities to build.<\/p>\n

Working together on the sites where Kawan Baik Indonesia<\/a> and Fair Future Foundation<\/a> are at work makes this adventure even more eexceptional<\/p>\n
