This week, the community centre boundary wall at Rumah Kambera was completed in Kawangu, East Sumba. The work took a little over two months, nearly two and a half, including construction of the central wooden lopo. The stone wall now outlines the site of the future socio-medical community centre.

The photograph looks through the wide entrance opening across open ground, with the lopo visible inside the wall. Medical care, training and field logistics are planned for this centre. The completed perimeter is one part of preparing the site for those future buildings and activities.

Next, the team plans to level the northeast section of the 4,200 m² plot. The plan calls for around 100 truckloads of sirtu fill to raise roughly one fifth of the land by 50–60 cm. Deliveries and levelling remain ahead.

Earlier reports document electricity reaching the Rumah Kambera site and work on the final side of the boundary wall.

[/et_pb_text][dsm_text_divider header=”External Links” admin_label=”5.
