In the remote region of Mbinudita, East Sumba, two dedicated health workers are making a difference through the Primary Medical Care program. Equipped with essential care guides, they deliver life-saving medical care and educate thousands. Their impact extends beyond health, influencing every aspect of community well-being. These women are more than caregivers – they are superheroes in their communities.<\/h1>\n

Kawan Sehat – Empowering Health Workers with Essential Care Guides.<\/h3>\n

In this new \u201cPhoto of the Day<\/a>,\u201d two primary\u00a0health workers<\/a> are seen tirelessly helping<\/span>\u00a0thousands<\/strong> of people in the ultra-rural Mbinudita<\/a> region of East Sumba. They hold two books<\/a> that we produced, which proudly embody their mission<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Kawan Sehat book<\/a>, seen on the left, is a guide produced by the Foundation to educate children on simple but valuable self-care methods. Those interested can access this resource here<\/a>. Beyond being a simple source of information, this book<\/a> is a tool that enables young children<\/strong> in these rural societies to adopt basic<\/strong>, healthier<\/strong> lifestyles.<\/p>\n

On the right side, they also hold a comprehensive 14-module guide<\/a> for training Kawan Sehat<\/a> health workers<\/a>. This publication<\/a> is an authoritative medical reference book<\/a> that informs them on how to treat<\/strong> various conditions such as wounds<\/strong>, bites<\/strong>, burns<\/strong>, etc. This massive manual<\/a> imparts these women’s knowledge and skills to provide effective Primary Medical Care<\/a> \u2013 care that sustains and saves lives. These healthcare<\/strong> providers are equipped with valuable skills, from caring<\/strong> for minors<\/strong> to caring<\/strong> for elderly<\/strong> patients in places where access to medical facilities<\/strong> is severely limited or non-existent.<\/p>\n

The Primary Medical Care<\/a> programme has been operational for over two years<\/strong> and has improved the lives of thousands<\/strong> of people. This is all thanks to these extraordinarily<\/strong> dedicated and powerful<\/strong> women who go beyond their role as caregivers<\/a>. They are true superheroes<\/a> dedicated to saving lives in their communities. The work they do<\/strong> can only be described as exceptional<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Their role as educators<\/a> is also evident in their position. They serve in remote schools\u00a0that lack basic amenities<\/strong> such as\u00a0electricity<\/strong>,\u00a0water,<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and even roads<\/strong>. In these precarious circumstances, they play an indispensable role in maintaining the well-being of their isolated communities, especially since it can take hours<\/strong> or even days<\/strong> to reach a medical care centre<\/strong> or a Puskesmas (Small Community Care Center)<\/em>. Their presence, therefore, remains essential to foster development in the villages that need it most.<\/p>\n

These women<\/a> emanate a spirit of empowerment<\/strong> and resilience<\/strong>. Their determined efforts shape the future of their communities, one patient at a time. In addition to medical care, they profoundly impact education, sanitation, and improving the community’s overall health.<\/p>\n
