This new “Picture of the Day<\/a>”\u00a0features Ruth<\/strong>, one of our Kawan Sehat agents<\/a> who lives in the remote village of Lukukamaru<\/a>, East Sumba. In this photo, she stands with a young boy who appears to be between two and three years old. He and his parents have come to seek medical attention<\/strong> because he has been suffering from severe diarrhea<\/a> and vomiting for several days, a common but dangerous problem in areas like theirs where access to clean wate<\/a>r is limited, and health resources are scarce. This child is just one of 500 patients<\/strong> treated each month<\/a> through our expanding Primary Medical Care<\/a> program, a growing number that is straining our foundation\u2019s supply chain and logistical capabilities.<\/p>\n “Every child should have the opportunity to heal, experience a smile born from good health, and see their parents regain hope. Ruth is turning this vision into reality.”\u2014 Alex Wettstein<\/a>, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Fair Future.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Ruth<\/strong> meticulously organized the necessary<\/strong> medications, placing them in a small plastic pouch to protect them from moisture and dirt\u2014vital measures in a weather-sensitive environment. However, her role was not limited<\/strong> to administering medications; She also gave the boy\u2019s parents vital advice. Ruth<\/strong> stressed the importance of boiling rainwater<\/strong> before drinking it, a simple but effective method to prevent illnesses<\/strong> such as diarrhea<\/a> and vomiting. In communities that rely solely on rainwater tanks, this practice is often the main defence against waterborne diseases.<\/a> She also emphasized the importance of keeping her child hydrated<\/a> and reassured them with practical care tips that could be easily incorporated into their daily routines.<\/p>\n These seemingly small efforts\u2014educating parents on protecting their children\u2019s health<\/a>, providing them with access to clean water<\/a>, and providing essential medical care<\/a>\u2014create meaningful change. These actions<\/a> make a profound difference by saving lives<\/strong> in areas without readily available healthcare<\/a>.
