Providing clean water to Lapinu is a community project that aims to build a deep well and improve sanitation for a healthier, more resilient future in this East Sumba village.
Lapinu’s quest for clean water begins with drilling deep wells and developing sanitation facilities, intending to revolutionize the health and daily lives of her community members.
In the remote village of Lapinu, obtaining clean water has always been challenging, and inadequate sanitation perpetually affects daily life. Villagers are constantly at risk of infectious diseases, compounded by unsafe water and poor hygiene standards. To address these pressing issues, our Water Connections initiative has embarked on an ambitious project to revolutionize health and well-being in this highly rural community.
Our team is actively developing critical water and sanitation infrastructure in partnership with Rotary International. We are identifying sources of clean water to establish a deep well that will provide the community with safe and reliable access to water. This initiative involves building ferrocement water tanks to ensure water supplies for families and children. Through these efficient water storage and distribution systems, we are working to bring relief and stability to families facing prolonged hardship due to shortages and contamination.
“Clean water and safe sanitation should be viewed not as luxuries, but as fundamental human rights. United, we are transforming health conditions and reinstating dignity in ultra-rural villages.”— Alex Wettstein, Founder and CEO of Fair Future.
By 2025, we aim to improve hygiene and disease prevention substantially, improving the overall quality of life for the people of Lapinu. For many families, this represents a revitalized sense of dignity as clean water and adequate sanitation become achievable goals rather than distant dreams.
In Lapinu, access to safe drinking water and health resilience begins with deep well drilling, robust storage systems, and thorough sanitation initiatives. Water Connections is dedicated to building a healthier, more dignified future by ensuring that every family in Lapinu receives the resources needed for sustainable development and community empowerment.
