Directed by Indira Larin and produced by Elisa Wettstein, ‘Matawai’ delves into the devastating impact of limited clean water access on the women and children of Sumba and underscores the efforts of the #WaterConnections program to improve health and well-being.

We invite you to join us on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, for the premiere of “Matawai, the Shade of Water” on the Fair Future Foundation’s YouTube channel. This 15-minute documentary, directed by Indira Larin and produced by Elisa Wettstein under Epi Production, highlights the significant challenges faced by ultra-rural communities in East Sumba in their daily struggle for access to water.

The film, titled “Matawai”, meaning “the source of the water” in the Sumbanese language, sheds light on the harsh realities of limited clean water access and its profound impact on women’s and children’s lives. They often neglect education and family care to meet life’s most basic need: water.

The documentary showcases the transformative impact of Fair Future’s #WaterConnections program, which is dedicated to improving health and well-being. This initiative provides clean water access, installs essential sanitation facilities, and combats infectious diseases like malaria, dysentery, and cholera, which are prevalent in these regions.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the passionate team behind this film and to the welcoming communities of East Sumba who have opened their doors to make this insightful documentary possible.

Alex Wettstein – Fair Future Foundation medico-social camp in East Sumba – Rumah Kambera, Lambanapu – The 7th of Mai 2024.

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_video src=”https://youtu.be/uo8mSd4bhno?si=qvRB3hSgUdtFLsW8″ _builder_version=”4.25.1″ _module_preset=”default” theme_builder_area=”post_content” hover_enabled=”0″ sticky_enabled=”0″ custom_margin=”2vh||1vh||false|false” custom_padding=”0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false” title_text=”matawai-cover-cloudflare” image_src=”https://fairfuturefoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/matawai-cover-cloudflare.jpg”][/et_pb_video][et_pb_button button_url=”https://www.youtube.com/c/FairFutureFoundation” url_new_window=”on” button_text=”Fair Future Foundation YouTube Channel” admin_label=”Visit our Youtube Channel” _builder_version=”4.25.1″ _module_preset=”2f2dfe93-bb93-411d-8bbe-35748e996e31″ custom_margin=”1vh|0px|0vh|0px|false|false” hover_enabled=”0″ global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content” sticky_enabled=”0″][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Unitevi a noi l‘8 maggio per la premiere su YouTube di ’Matawai: The Shade of Water”.
