On January 17th, the village of Laindatang came together, with schoolchildren, teachers, and villagers, to witness the vision of #WaterConnection 2024. This gallery captures the hope, determination, and unity that define this transformative project.

Join our mission to restore the “Truck of Life,” which is vital for continuing to provide medical care, potable water, and hope to the isolated populations of East Sumba, where access is highly challenging, and we are the only responders.

The “Truck of Life” – Necessary Repairs After an Intensive Journey in East Sumba: Over the past five months, our #TruckofLife has undergone trials pushing its limits to the extreme. Engaged in crucial missions in East Sumba over the most challenging terrains, this truck has been at the heart of our #WaterConnections, #ZeroMalaria, and #PrimaryMedicalCare projects in the Mahu sub-district.

The work accomplished has been immense: navigating extremely complicated paths, the Truck of Life has towed 10-ton trucks and delivered medical care, education, food, comfort, medical equipment, potable water, and medications to the most inaccessible regions of Eastern Indonesia. We are the only ones operating in these ultra-rural areas, and the presence of our truck is often the only ray of hope for isolated communities.

After such an intense journey, it is unsurprising that the #TruckofLife has suffered significant damage. The challenges of the terrain in East Sumba have left their mark: substantial damage that reflects the extreme conditions under which we operate. Therefore, the truck has been repatriated to Denpasar for a necessary phase of repair and modification.

The repairs are estimated at around 5,000 francs, a significant sum that covers the truck’s refurbishment and the replacement of two essential tyres. These repairs are not just a fix but an upgrade to ensure that the #TruckofLife can continue to serve our missions effectively.

We are at a critical point: without this truck, our ability to reach and assist the most deprived communities is severely compromised. That’s why we are asking for your help. Every contribution will help us finalise these vital repairs and get the #TruckofLife back on the roads and paths of East Sumba.

We are also considering acquiring a second truck to double our intervention capacity. But for now, our priority is to save our unique #TruckofLife. Your support will make a real difference.

To donate, please visit our donation page. Every gesture helps us continue our mission.

Alex Wettstein – Fair Future Foundation medico-social camp in East Sumba – Rumah Kambera, Lambanapu – The 18th of May 2024

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_button button_url=”@ET-DC@eyJkeW5hbWljIjp0cnVlLCJjb250ZW50IjoicG9zdF9saW5rX3VybF9wYWdlIiwic2V0dGluZ3MiOnsicG9zdF9pZCI6IjM4NjQyMiJ9fQ==@” button_text=”Suport the Truck of Life now” _builder_version=”4.25.1″ _dynamic_attributes=”button_url” _module_preset=”2f2dfe93-bb93-411d-8bbe-35748e996e31″ custom_margin=”0vh|0px|1vh|0px|false|false” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][/et_pb_button][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row admin_label=”Row for the Gallery or the Album” _builder_version=”4.24.0″ _module_preset=”default” background_color=”#FFFFFF” background_enable_color=”on” width=”100%” width_last_edited=”off|desktop” custom_margin=”3vh||0vh||false|false” custom_padding=”0vh|0vw|0vh|0vw|true|true” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}” width__hover_enabled=”off|desktop” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”][et_pb_text admin_label=”Title: The Truck of Life is an essential element of our on-site responses” module_id=”the-gallery-of-this-post” _builder_version=”4.25.1″ _dynamic_attributes=”link_option_url” _module_preset=”185a3fb0-2550-4b28-82a3-fe2c347e493e” text_font=”Open Sans|800|||||||” text_text_color=”#111111″ text_font_size=”24px” text_line_height=”1em” header_4_font=”||||||||” text_orientation=”center” custom_margin=”0vh||0vh||true|false” custom_padding=”15px|15px|15px|15px|true|false” link_option_url=”@ET-DC@eyJkeW5hbWljIjp0cnVlLCJjb250ZW50IjoicG9zdF9saW5rX3VybF9lbnZpcmEiLCJzZXR0aW5ncyI6eyJwb3N0X2lkIjoiMzYyNTIxIn19@” text_font_size_tablet=”30px” text_font_size_phone=”18px” text_font_size_last_edited=”on|phone” border_width_top=”1px” border_color_top=”rgba(221,221,221,0.7)” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}” background_color__hover=”#ededed” background_enable_color__hover=”on” text_letter_spacing__hover_enabled=”off|desktop” text_letter_spacing__hover=”1px” text_text_color__hover_enabled=”off|hover” text_text_color__hover=”#111111″ theme_builder_area=”post_content”]

The Truck of Life is an essential element of our on-site responses

[/et_pb_text][et_pb_code admin_label=”Code Envira: %91envira-gallery id=%22362521%22%93″ module_id=”the-gallery” module_class=”text-link-fff-blue” _builder_version=”4.25.1″ _module_preset=”default” width=”100%” custom_margin=”0px||0px||false|false” custom_padding=”0px|0px|0px|0px|false|false” locked=”off” global_colors_info=”{}” theme_builder_area=”post_content”] In the remote landscapes of Eastern Indonesia, where challenges are a daily affair and essential services are a distant dream, emerges a beacon of hope—the Truck of Life. This isn’t just a vehicle; it’s an extension of the Fair Future Foundation’s mission to bring critical medical and social aid to communities left behind by time and circumstance.

Navigating the intricate web of deteriorating roads, arduous weather conditions, and societal challenges, the Truck of Life accomplishes something extraordinary. With just CHF 0.56 per kilometre, it takes us to places even mapmakers have yet to reach. Its wheels roll through rugged terrains to deliver life-saving medications for malaria, tuberculosis, and other infectious diseases that prey on vulnerable populations. But the truck’s purpose transcends mere transportation of medical supplies; it’s a lifeline for people in isolation, a rolling hospital where basic medical facilities are a luxury. Embedded within the vehicle are dedicated medical teams equipped to administer primary medical check-ups, vaccinations, maternal and child health services, and essential treatments for common illnesses.

Through the Primary Medical Care Program (PMC), we ensure that the Truck of Life becomes a cornerstone for healthcare access. It’s not just about reaching these communities; it’s about engaging with them, sharing knowledge, and empowering people with health education and preventive measures against diseases. The essence of the Truck of Life lies in its adaptability and intimacy with the community. Working closely with local stakeholders, including Kawan Baik and the local health workers, we become community builders, not just medical professionals. We engage in community outreach programs, conduct educational sessions, and actively involve local actors to cultivate an ecosystem of well-being. This truck is a catalyst for transformative change, not just in healthcare but in the quality of life in the ultra-rural landscapes of Sumba.

Sustainability is at the core of the Truck of Life’s operation. Long-term plans for maintenance, repairs, and replenishment of supplies are carefully mapped out to ensure this initiative remains functional and impactful for years to come. Your support for the Truck of Life is an investment in human dignity and fairness, as well as in eradicating the vast disparities that mark these regions. By fueling this journey with your contributions, you’re not just donating, but becoming part of a larger narrative, a movement that defies limitations and shatters boundaries.

With careful planning, deep-rooted community involvement, and unwavering commitment to sustainability, the Truck of Life isn’t just a Fair Future Foundation initiative. Thank you for entrusting your belief to us and, above all, for seeing the humanity in the lives we aim to uplift.

We cordially invite all captivated by this story to explore our photo gallery, witness this extraordinary effort, and further engage with our mission through our Instagram account.

Alex Wettstein – Fair Future Foundation medico-social camp in East Sumba – Rumah Kambera, Lambanapu – The April 17th, 2024

The Truck of Life is an essential element of our on-site responses.
