Piani di campo interattivi
These maps are working field tools, not static illustrations. Our teams use them to plan healthcare, water systems, malaria prevention, school support and essential infrastructure across rural East Sumba. Their content evolves as field conditions and project data change.
Live field maps for healthcare, water, malaria and essential infrastructure
Operational Google maps used to plan, monitor and document work across rural East Sumba
Maps are part of how we work in the field
In East Sumba, distance, relief, road access and seasonal isolation directly affect healthcare, water construction and emergency logistics. A location on a map can determine how long a medical team needs to reach a village, whether a gravity-fed water system is technically possible, or how medicines and equipment can be supplied.
These Google My Maps are therefore operational tools. Our teams update them as projects develop, new infrastructure is built, health agents are deployed and field information changes. What you see here is connected to the same geographic information used in our day-to-day planning.
The maps also provide a long-term geographic record of our work. They connect places, infrastructure, health activities and field observations across programmes that would otherwise be difficult to understand from written reports alone.
Live Field Maps
These are live working maps. Their content may change as Fair Future Foundation teams update locations, access routes, infrastructure and project data in Google My Maps. Open an accordion below to load its current map.
Primary Medical Care & Kawan Sehat
Planning healthcare where formal services do not reach
This map supports our Primary Medical Care work and the deployment of Kawan Sehat community health agents. It helps us understand where agents are based, which communities they cover, the distances between villages and the routes required for supervision, medicines and field consultations.
Because access conditions change, this is a working map rather than a finished illustration. It supports operational decisions around medical outreach, supply, follow-up and referral.
Water Connections 2026
Reservoirs, sanitation, wells and water-system planning
This map is used for the Water Connections programme in East Sumba. It brings together planned and active locations for rainwater reservoirs, sanitation systems, drilling points, filtration and water distribution.
Terrain, elevation, road access and distance matter when designing water infrastructure. The map supports field surveys, construction planning, logistics, budgeting and follow-up as new installations are added.
Schools Without Electricity
Mapping schools where reliable electricity is still absent
This map documents schools identified through our field work where electricity is unavailable or unreliable. It supports planning for solar lighting, school electrification and education-related interventions.
Mapping schools geographically helps teams evaluate access, travel time, local conditions and the practical logistics required to deliver equipment and return later for assessment or maintenance.
Malaria - Umalulu
Household-level mapping for malaria prevention and surveillance
The Umalulu map was developed around a 400-household field baseline and remains an operational reference for understanding settlement patterns, household risks, sanitation conditions and access across the intervention area.
Mapping helps connect epidemiological information with geography so that testing, education, vector-control activities and follow-up can be planned at community and household level.
Malaria - Mahu
A geographic record of a major malaria field operation
This map preserves the spatial organisation of our malaria work in Mahu, including communities reached during large-scale household screening and treatment activities. It remains useful as both an operational archive and a reference for future disease-prevention work.
Keeping the geographic record matters because villages, roads, access constraints and health risks cannot be understood from aggregate numbers alone.
Water - Laindatang & Hambarita
Following water infrastructure across highly water-stressed communities
This map documents Water Connections work in Laindatang and Hambarita, including reservoirs, filtration, sanitation and other infrastructure developed in communities facing prolonged dry seasons and limited water access.
It provides a geographic record of completed work while also helping teams understand how homes, schools, water sources and future infrastructure relate to one another.
Water - Lapinu
Planning water and health access in an extremely isolated village
Lapinu is difficult to reach and has major constraints involving water, sanitation, electricity and access to healthcare. This map supports field assessment of the village, access roads, potential water infrastructure and the locations relevant to community health work.
For isolated sites like Lapinu, accurate geographic information is essential before equipment, construction materials or medical teams are moved into the area.
Mbinudita - Water, Health & Infrastructure
A multi-year geographic record of community infrastructure
Mbinudita represents several years of combined work involving clean water, sanitation, education, health and community infrastructure. The map records how those installations are distributed across a large and difficult rural area.
It is useful both as an archive of completed work and as an operational reference for maintenance, health coverage and future interventions.
2021 Flood Response & Recovery
Preserving the geographic record of emergency response and recovery
This map documents Fair Future Foundation’s response to the severe floods that affected East Sumba in April 2021. It records locations associated with emergency assistance, damaged infrastructure and subsequent recovery work.
Although this operation is historical, retaining the map provides an important geographic reference for disaster preparedness and for understanding how extreme weather can disrupt water, health, transport and food systems.
