Dear friends,
As 2024 comes to an end, Fair Future, our small Swiss medical foundation, and I are pleased to present the detailed report of our Primary Medical Care Program, covering the period from August to November 2024. This document highlights the essential work accomplished by our teams in the ultra-rural regions of far eastern Indonesia, where access to even the most basic medical care remains a daily challenge.
An exceptional program to meet essential needs.
Since 2022, the Kawan Sehat health agents, 99% of whom are women, trained and equipped by the Foundation, have treated or identified thousands of medical cases, ranging from severe injuries to infectious diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis. These extraordinary women also play a vital role in educating communities on topics such as hygiene, disease prevention, the dangers of smoking and alcohol abuse, family planning and women's health, and the importance of a balanced diet for a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.
Innovative tools for sustainable solutions.
At the heart of this program is the Kawan Sehat application, a digital platform developed internally. It allows our health agents to track patients, access medical protocols in real time, and stay connected with our medical and coordination teams. This tool is transforming the way healthcare is delivered in such isolated regions.
Strengthening primary healthcare must be our foundation to achieve universal health coverage and global health goals. - Alex, October 2023
Continuous support and tailored logistics.
Thanks to our field team, led by Erwin, we provide constant support to the health agents. Every week, we restock their medications, answer their questions, and provide them with the essential tools to continue their mission under often challenging conditions.
Key figures
Between August and November, we invested IDR 391 million (CHF 22,000) in this program. These funds were used to purchase medications, develop educational tools, improve logistics, train the agents, enhance the Kawan Sehat app, and educate entire communities. For early 2025, a new investment of IDR 415 million (CHF 23,150) has already been planned and will be transferred to Indonesia in early January 2025 to further expand our actions for a second quarter of essential medical care.
Your support is essential.
This report illustrates the importance of every action. In 2025, we aim to further expand this program, save more lives, and reach even more remote communities. Your support will enable us to continue providing the medications, training, and resources needed to turn challenges into concrete solutions.
Conclusion: Together towards a 2025 full of solutions and humanity
As 2024 comes to an end, we want to warmly thank each of you for your unwavering support. Thanks to you, lives have been transformed, forgotten communities have found relief, and concrete solutions have emerged where everything once seemed impossible.
We send you our best wishes for a new year full of solidarity, health, and success. Let us continue building a better future together for those who count on us—and believe us, they truly rely on us.
Happy New Year 2025!
