From the Field to Your Heart: Our 2024 Annual Report
👋 It's me, Alex. It's been a long time since we last spoke. Nearly two months, I believe. And I miss it.
But we never forget you. Never.
Here, in the far east of Indonesia, everything happens quickly and often intensely. The terrain is harsh, the work demanding, and the days pass by without always having time to write to you. Between medical missions, prevention campaigns, reservoir construction, and multi-day truck journeys… well, we sometimes forget to pause. To breathe. To tell you about our lives.
However, today we're taking a moment to tell you that we're doing well. That the team is holding up. That we're working hard, as always. And above all… that we have some great news to share.
Ayu, my wife, is expecting a baby. She's four months pregnant and everything is going smoothly. Life reminds us that it can appear where we least expect it ;-). The whole team is happy. Exhausted, yes, but happy.
A lively, human, and essential report—a must-read.
And we have more good news: we've finalised our 2024 annual report. We wanted it to be comprehensive, sincere, and true to what we do every day here. No fancy figures, no impressive graphs, just reality. Our actions. Our projects. The thousands of people we care for, support, and listen to.
This annual report for 2024 reflects a total commitment of 365 days. In the field, in the rice paddies, in the mountains, and in villages forgotten by everyone but us. It tells the story of our way of doing things—direct, human, and grounded. It pays tribute to every child cared for, every reservoir built, every solar lamp distributed, and every woman listened to.
We invite you to read it. To share it. It's also your story. It's thanks to you that all this is possible. Thanks to your support, your messages, your donations, your gestures—big or small.
The French version is also available here. We finished the English version yesterday at Rumah Kambera, including part of it from the Truck of Life. As in every year for the past 16 years, our accounts were fully validated by all stakeholders.
We thank you sincerely from the bottom of our hearts.
And now? We're heading back to the field. There's still so much to do.
See you soon for a new article.
— Alex, for Fair Future
PS: The photo above shows the nighttime construction of the 15m³ reservoir that Fair Future is currently building in East Sumba. In this area where water shortages are severe, this reservoir, the largest of its kind in the entire region, will, for the first time, provide permanent access to 150,000 litres of clean, stored, filtered, and safe water to hundreds of families. This marks a significant step forward for the health and daily lives of isolated communities. |
