Fair Future Foundation, In East Sumba - Rumah Kambera Base Camp

Why do we need a truck for our social-medical field programs?

We must acquire a used truck to transport our deep well drilling machines to the sites for its base camp in Sumba East. But also all building materials (sand, cement, bricks, scrap metal etc...). Right now, we can't do it ourselves and have to resort to renting a truck for nearly $250. This sum is significant and is equivalent to constructing a 5000-litre clean water tank as part of the #waterconnections project, or a good third of the construction costs for a complete sanitary installation.

The Water Connections project is progressing exceptionally well, and we are close to the goal after more than 12 months of on-site work.

The foundation has built over ten 6,500 litres of clean water tanks and several sanitary facilities. The clean water comes from a deep borehole we drilled more than 350 meters below the school of #sdmbinudita. It is a performance that defies the laws of gravity to have succeeded in pumping water to our school and then distributing it over more than five hectares!

All installations are also already connected by more than 5,000 meters of flexible PVC pipes, which bind all the structures. These more than five km of lines are buried. These facilities improve the lives and health of these thousands of villagers, especially the young children who represent nearly 65% of the inhabitants here in East Sumba. We can see the impact on the villagers' health and well-being. But also on their economy because water can generate income!

Today and after more than a year of work in the field, Fair Future still has eight sanitary facilities to build. This is to provide access to showers, toilets by gender, a clothes washing point, clean water collection, and watering (wastewater recycling using natural filters) to more than 2,500 villagers.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this massive project on the Mbinudita site possible.

The 1st toilets of the village are almost finished

Sanitary facilities, showers, toilets, a wastewater collection tank... It was a pilot project for the foundation. Today it is something normal. How do build healthy, ecological, environmentally friendly toilets using mainly local materials (excluding sand, iron and cement)? How not waste the water we found by drilling so deep?
