Rotary International Visits Fair Future Foundation in East Sumba to Address Critical Health and Water Issues. Through Collaborative Efforts, We Aim to Improve Sanitation, Provide Clean Water, and Enhance Medical Care for Disadvantaged Communities.
The visit by Rotary International to East Sumba highlighted our communities’ urgent health and sanitation needs. Together, we are committed to bringing sustainable change.
On AprilApril 204, we hosted a group of five individuals from the Rotary International in Rumah Kambera in East Sumba, which serves as our base camp for Fair Future und Gute Freunde Foundations in Nusa Tenggara Timur region of far east Indonesia.
During their week-long visit, we took our guests to the region’s most disadvantaged communities, including highly difficult-to-access areas where life is harsh and sometimes dangerous. We were honoured to have Mandi, Bridget, John, Adrian, und Peter show remarkable courage and bravery throughout the trip.
On a specific day at our socio-medical base camp, Regent Khris Praing and his wife, along with heads of various departments, were present to learn about our educational projects and the alarming situation faced by families dealing with issues such as Malaria, lack of access to clean Wasser, sanitation facilities, medical care, road access, and infrastructure.
We also had the opportunity to show the prevention posters we have created to promote healthier lives and preserve the well-being of families and children in East Sumba. These posters, written in the local language and featuring relevant visuals, are intended to be displayed throughout the territory.
We watched the film Matawai, Die Schatten des Wassers together, which elicited emotional reactions and tears from some viewers. The film effectively highlighted the immense problems and challenges faced by the communities in the region, and representatives of the authorities noted these issues.
To conclude the visit, our friends Dadang Pranoto von Pohon Tua Creatorium, Navicula und Dialog Dini Hari performed a few songs, creating a magical atmosphere. The day ended with everyone parting ways, shaking hands, and sharing a commitment to working towards a brighter future for the ultra-rural communities of East Sumba. Together, we are making a difference.
