Three essential announcements to share with you today

First, a crucial update on the progress of our #ZeroMalaria program - publication of the interim report - which promises to shake up your perspectives on this disease. Then, a personal message from me, Alex, in connection with my birthday, but above all, dedicated to the mission that unites us. Finally, discover the film "Matawai", our recent documentary, which explores the urgent challenges of access to drinking water in Eastern Indonesia.

It's not just a newsletter but a call to action and reflection. Take a moment to delve into these news stories — they deserve your full attention.

Our team, dedicated to fighting against malaria, dengue fever, acute diarrhea, malnutrition, skin infections, and damage caused by dirty water, recently made a visit to one of the most remote regions. This photo shows them during their visit. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment to improving health and well-being in these vulnerable communities.

Intermediate Report on the #ZeroMalaria Program

Dear friends and steadfast supporters of Fair Future,

As we navigate a world that some describe as fractured, our commitment to shaping a fairer future remains a beacon in this darkness. It's an indescribable honor to address those among you who have consistently stood by our side, providing strength and resilience to our mission in the most isolated, rural, and impoverished regions of Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

I wish to inform you about the release of an intermediate report on our #ZeroMalaria program and the battle against the infectious diseases that ravage our communities. Although this report is penned in English, it is a document that must not be overlooked. Take the time to read it, understand it, and share it. Because within its pages lie truths that save lives. This is an extraordinary operation, a race against time that cannot and must not come to a halt.

Let's talk first about malaria. The silent enemy lurks in the shadow of a mosquito bite. Over the past few months, I have witnessed more than twenty pregnant women and chronic patients lose their lives to this disease. Conquering malaria won't happen in a few weeks or months; it's a relentless struggle that Fair Future and all our friends have embarked upon and must continue for years to come. We are going door-to-door for active prevention, educating, and diagnosing, and every day we battle to reduce both cases and fatalities. It's a long, laborious fight, but it's a fight that must be waged.

Moreover, it's not just malaria. It's dengue, it's tuberculosis, it's polio that our teams have detected in recent months. Our "medical warriors" on the ground, numbering over one hundred, demonstrate unparalleled courage and professionalism. They are our hope, they are your hope, and their determination deserves to be highlighted, amplified, and supported.

As we prepare to celebrate fifteen years of our small Swiss medical foundation next February, I am struck by the deafening silence from the authorities in our country despite the invitations we have extended to them. And not just them, where are UNICEF, WHO, all these giants who talk much but act little on the ground? We are here, right in the heat of action, and it's disappointing, even shocking, to note their absence.

Therefore, I appeal to your generosity. We need medications, microscopes, rapid tests, laboratory equipment, and logistical resources to support our teams on the ground. Every franc counts. You donate 1 franc, and 93 cents go directly into our medical aid projects. It's unique, it's vital.

We have you, and that is the greatest honour we could possibly have. We know we're not alone in this struggle with you by our side. Thank you for your ongoing and unwavering support.

With all my gratitude and devotion,

"In a world where words are abundant but action is rare, we at Fair Future choose to be the unyielding voice and the tireless hands that reach out to save lives, one by one. We don't merely exist; we persist, for humanity demands nothing less."

A must-see. Matawai: Fair Future's eye-opening documentary on the water crisis.

About Matawai

"Matawai" is not just a documentary; it's a call to action. Produced by the Fair Future Foundation, the film immerses us in the complexities of accessing clean water in Eastern Indonesia.

The work goes beyond simply showcasing challenges; it offers tangible solutions that Fair Future is implementing on the ground. From artesian wells to educational programs on hygiene, the film highlights our initiatives to ensure water is a fundamental human right. Shot in collaboration with local communities, it provides an authentic glimpse into rural life, where access to water is a daily struggle.

Furthermore, we incorporate a gender perspective, encouraging balanced engagement of women and men in managing this precious resource. "Matawai" aims to be an awareness-raising tool and a catalyst for action. We invite you to join us in this essential mission for a future where clean water is not a luxury but a universal right.

As part of Alex's program to increase access to primary medical care, life-saving and essential medical procedures are taught.
Alex, “Between Struggle and Hope, a Birthday Like No Other”

Hello friends, it's Alex... Today, October 13th, I'm celebrating more than just a birthday.

I'm celebrating a quest, a mission that isn't summed up by a day of cake and candles. This day, indeed, serves more as a mirror reflecting the challenges, sacrifices, and small victories that have accumulated over the years. That reflex to throw in the towel during moments of exhaustion, that temptation to say "enough"—it exists. Oh yes, it exists and manifests itself, especially on those silent nights when the weight of responsibilities becomes almost unbearable.

But then I remember... I remember the faces of those families for whom clean water is a distant dream, the children whose eyes light up at the sight of a textbook, a bit of wholesome food, and games—of all these communities who find in our actions a glimmer of hope, but most importantly, remedies for their ailments. And it's at that moment that my exhaustion seems trivial. I realize then that this fatigue is the price to pay for the change I want to see, the cornerstone upon which hundreds of thousands of families can lean.

So yes, I wish myself a happy birthday, not as an individual, but as an integral part of this incredible team that is Fair Future. It's a reminder that despite the wear and tear, despite the doubts, the fight continues. And we engage in this fight not because it's easy or glorious, but because it is necessary.

So, on this day that could be dedicated to personal celebration, I devote it to this mission, to these people, to this cause that transcends my being. I never stop fighting because their fight is mine, and in this fight, giving up is not an option.

In this context, every drop of water we provide, every medicine we furnish, and every smile we manage to draw on a child's face is far more than just an action. It's a silent but powerful affirmation that we are not ready to give up. So, happy birthday to you, Alex. It's another trip around the sun, another year of struggle, and another reason to believe that the impossible is within our reach.
