A call from the heart, by Alex, President of Fair Future |
My very dear friends, dear families, dear donors,
I allow myself to write these few lines to inform you of the situation in which almost all the children find themselves where we work every day.
Sumba is the poorest region in Indonesia and certainly in Southeast Asia. Sumba Timur (East Sumba) holds the sad record for the highest malnutrition rate and underweight children. The situation here is severe, and Fair Future needs all of you to provide access to clean water, medical care, and food.
I don't need to say more. I think you understand what starvation and lack of access to everything can mean.
So help us to help them. It's a real cry from the heart that I'm launching here. Thanks a lot. |

The Interactive Map of Water Connections Project |
27/10/2022 |
Fair Future develops participatory monitoring tools as part of its screening and definition of needs. This map is produced as part of the #WaterConnections project. It is updated as a new sewerage installation, a new deep borehole, a new clean water reservoir and everything that directly or indirectly affects this project is built. This Google map allows us to work, do this project and calculate: Heights, elevations, distances, depths etc... Thanks to this tool, this project is much easier to set up. |

Here is the latest news from the foundation and our work in the most isolated and ultra-peripheral regions. Where we are, hardly any roads lead, electricity is scarce, and internet connection is often impossible. Water, medical care, food, and so many things are missing, but we are changing that. |

New complete and healthy sanitary facilities in Wondenu, East Sumba |
26/10/2022 |
In rural villages in eastern Indonesia, where we work, toilets are very rare. This is a problem particularly present in rural areas where a third of the population must continually defecate in the open air. For Bapak Rinto, it is a relief and a great pride that his family finally has a toilet, thanks to the support of Fair Future and Kawan Baik. |

Bad luck Kawan. A real financial blow that hurts us a lot |
24/10/2022 |
Two of our MacBook Pro-type computers, owned by the foundation, broke down in less than three weeks. And the repair costs are exorbitant for us. We had to find quick solutions. There are days when nothing goes, or almost. Of course, it's part of life. Still, when it directly affects our ability to work and significantly impacts the finances of our medical and social programs, it becomes complicated for a small foundation like ours. |

Water Connections from the sky – 04 October 2022 |
14/10/2022 |
The health burden of poor-quality water is enormous, and providing clean water to such a large population is a considerable challenge. Indonesia, particularly the east of this immense country, is characterized by a non-uniformity in the level of awareness and socio-economic development. Therefore, our two foundations do what they can. These few images are taken from the sky and show you what this major project consists of, Water Connections: Drinking water and sanitation for 2,500 people. |

Water Connections program, the work of teams in the field |
08/10/2022 |
The past few weeks have been hectic for all of us here in East Sumba. What a titanic job we are all doing with the help of our friends, the villagers, and members of the rural communities of Mbinudita. The nights are short, and the days are very long and hot too. Imagine, friends, it's almost 40°, and we work under a blazing sun, which almost anaesthetizes us if we don't hydrate ourselves enough. |

The 2021 annual report and audited accounts |
13/09/2022 |
With a little delay, we publish our annual activity report 2021, which we apologise for. This delay is mainly related to a schedule in the field, which leaves us too little time for administrative tasks. As always, for so many years now, we can congratulate ourselves on the work accomplished by our teams, but also those of Kawan Baik Indonesia with whom we work so hard, and all the volunteers who bring us their help and incredible support. |

What does Kawan Baik mean? |
Reading this newsletter, you will wonder why we call you Kawan {name}. I'll tell you what that means, folks.
For us, you are Kawan {name}, and you are part of all of us because, without you, nothing would be possible. I'm Kawan Alex. So many people ask us what "Kawan" or "Kawan Baik" means.
So here's the explanation: "Kawan" means "friend" in Indonesian. When you add "Baik" to it, it means "my good friend". It's simple, isn't it?
That's what we all call ourselves here, and so you have your first Indonesian lesson Kawan {name}.
Note: In the photo on the left, this little girl turns on a tap for the first time in her life. |

This is why your donation matters Kawan |
For fifteen years, Fair Future Foundation has provided social, medical, infrastructural and educational assistance to populations whose lives and health are threatened by diseases linked to food and water deficiencies, epidemics, pandemics or natural disasters.
Independent, we act with complete impartiality and neutrality. This independence of action is rooted in our financing, provided 100% by resources of private origin. This is why your support is essential so that we can continue to exist and do what we do in favour of humans and humanity.
