A medical outreach day, closer to home
A medical outreach day brings consultations, appropriate treatment, and practical health education to a village in East Sumba. This project funds one complete visit through Primary Medical Care. The local team will select the village and date.
For families living far from regular services, seeking care can involve a difficult journey. Bringing the team into a village creates an opportunity to discuss symptoms, receive an assessment and understand the next steps. We aim to see around 100–150 people. Attendance and clinical needs will vary.
What the medical outreach day includes
The team provides consultations and treatment according to each person’s needs. Some patients need medicine. Others need an explanation, preventive advice, or further assessment. Receiving care does not always mean receiving a prescription.
Doctors work alongside pharmacy professionals, midwives, and logistics staff. The traveling team generally includes three doctors and around 10–15 people in total. Two or three vehicles carry people and supplies. Preparation, travel, care, education and return occupy a full day, from early departure to the journey home.
Practical advice people can use at home
Health education is part of the visit. Good Health Prescription cards and fabric education posters help the team explain prevention and everyday health practices. Advice should be understandable and relevant to the concerns raised during a consultation.
These materials support conversation between the team, patients and families. They complement medical assessment and appropriate treatment. The aim is to help people understand their health and the practical actions discussed with them.
What will CHF 850 support?
The funding target is CHF 850 for one medical outreach day. It covers care, health education, and field logistics, including moving teams and supplies. We arrange power equipment for the visit when needed.
This request concerns one future activity, not the whole monthly program. Fair Future has organised many such days. The photographs on this page illustrate previous activities; they do not identify a village already selected for this funding request.
Local support after the visit
Kawan Sehat agents in the region generally provide follow-up. They contact patients or return to villages as needed to check in on how people are doing. The outreach team may also revisit to assess progress.
Fair Future Foundation et Kawan Que du bien pour l'Indonésie coordinate with local Kawan Sehat agents. This connection helps extend support beyond the day itself.
