Three Crosses Near Haray
Three crosses near Haray, East Sumba, stood on a hillside along the road to an isolated school. We were there to evaluate the solar installation we put in place 11 months ago. We do not know when the crosses were raised; they may be connected to Easter celebrations.
We stopped and took this photograph. I stood there for a moment and prayed for the future of Fair Future Foundation, for the Rumah Kambera Community Socio-Medical Centre to receive the support it still needs, and for our teams to keep reaching more people. The school visit was about making sure electricity continues to serve children and teachers. This quiet stop was personal. On these long roads, we carry both the work we have done and the responsibility to keep it going. The crosses are part of the landscape we encountered, and this is what that moment meant to me.
