Avec nous pour les nouvelles acquisitions de médicaments et d'équipements médicaux
Inside the Rigorous Planning, Commitment, and Heartfelt Efforts that Fuel Fair Future’s Mission to Transform Healthcare in Ultra-Rural Eastern Indonesia
Around me, my colleagues and I are immersed in complex lists, spreadsheets that seem almost endless. These are not simple lists; they reflect our hopes to bring tangible change in the lives of those who need it most. Each line represents a specific medicine, each column a precise quantity to order. We cannot afford a single mistake.
These medicines and medical equipment are about to make a significant journey. They will be loaded into our #TruckOfLife, which is preparing to transport several hundred kilos of essential medicines to Est de Sumbawá. As soon as all the material is ready, we will hit the road. This is not a light expedition; it’s a mission that can literally make the difference between life and death for those awaiting our help.
Our main objective is to supplement the more than 60 primary care kits already distributed in 14 different districts of East Sumba, as part of the #Programme PrimaryMedicalCare. This transformative program brings essential healthcare to ultra-rural communities in eastern Indonesia. It allows local women, many of whom are educators, but are now also qualified health agents (Kawan Sehat Agents). These agents provide quick and life-saving interventions and primary medical care, greatly improving access to medical services where they are most needed.
But let’s go further. In East Sumba, the medical reality is marked by infectious diseases like maladie de malaria, which tear apart the very fabric of communities. Under the #ZeroMalaria programme, our lists include rapid malaria screening tests, laboratory equipment, blood collection kits, and antimalarial medicines. We target the Plasmodium parasite with clinical precision, not just to treat but to eradicate, to break the cycle of transmission that keeps these communities in a spiral of illness and poverty.
In this region, which is one of the poorest in Indonesia, every action counts double. The terrain is challenging, the resources are scarce, but the impact of these medicines and medical supplies is monumental. They are not just items on an inventory; they embody our commitment to make a difference, our commitment to bring a breath of hope to places where even that is a rare commodity.
So, when we finish checking these lists, when the last box is loaded into the #TruckOfLife, we will know that we have crossed another crucial milestone. But we never forget that the road is long, that each day brings new challenges. We remain humble, we stay focused, because we know that our struggle, as arduous as it may be, is far from over. But it’s a struggle that we are prepared to undertake, again and again, until every person in East Sumba, and beyond, has access to the medical care they deserve.
You can be a part of this, help us acquire the materials, the medicines. To do this, we invite you to make a donation here or, alternatively, support le #TruckOfLife to go further by donating for miles.

Navigating the Healthcare Crisis in Ultra-Rural Eastern Indonesia with Fair Future
As Fair Future nears its 15e anniversaire, the urgency to sustain our work in East Sumba grows. Here at our base camp in Denpasar, we meticulously plan the delivery of essential medicines through our #TruckOfLife and #PrimaryMedicalCare programs. Each item represents more than medicine; it’s a lifeline.
In my recent article, I highlight the dire healthcare situation in East Sumba, worsened by the absence of aid from major organizations, including Switzerland. Fair Future stands as one of the few lifelines for these vulnerable communities.

The Journey of Lifesaving Medical Supplies: From Base Camp Denpasar to Ultra-Rural East Sumba
The #TruckOfLife, Kawan Sehat Agents, and the Ongoing Commitment to Transform Healthcare in Indonesia’s Poorest Regions
Hello everyone, We’re currently at the heartbeat of our operations, our base camp in Denpasar. Every decision made here is a commitment to change lives. The spreadsheets before us are more than just numbers; they are the lifelines for people in Est de Sumbawá who desperately need medical aid. No room for error, because these supplies will soon be on their significant journey via our #TruckOfLife.
This mission is anything but ordinary; it’s a lifeline, a difference between life and death for those who are waiting. We aim to enhance the #Programme PrimaryMedicalCare, delivering vital healthcare to Communautés ultra rurales. Our Kawan Sehat Agents, many of whom are local women transformed into healthcare providers, are our hands and hearts on the ground.
In East Sumba, the silent war is against infectious diseases like malaria. We are not just treating; we are targeting the root cause, the Plasmodium parasite, to halt a cycle that spirals communities into illness and poverty. In one of Indonesia’s poorest regions, where each action is magnified, these medical supplies are not just inventory; they’re our commitment to bring hope where it’s scarce.
So when the last box is loaded into the #TruckOfLife, it’s more than just a milestone. It’s a reminder that the road is long, and our mission, while far from over, is one we undertake with determination. We remain humble, always ready for the next challenge, because this is a journey we are committed to continue—until everyone in need receives the medical care they rightfully deserve.
