How Solar Lamps are Transforming Education and Safety in Haray Village: Investing in the Future of Children Without Access to Electricity
In Haray Village, the distribution of SolarBuddy lamps brings light and hope to homes, improving both education and safety for children in areas without electricity.
Nestled in the Mahu subdistrict of East Sumba, over 100 SolarBuddy lamps have been given to families with no electricity access. Children in Haray Village have long struggled to do their homework after sunset and faced dangers when fetching water from distant WaterSource in the evening. The steep paths and uneven terrain have led to frequent accidents and injuries, creating a significant challenge for the community. Our teams at Fair Future Foundation are deeply committed to providing access to clean water, medical care, and a reliable light source. We believe everyone deserves an equal opportunity to improve their lives, and the distribution of SolarBuddy lamps is a crucial part of this mission.
Thanks to the generous support of Rotary International, every household in Haray Village now benefits from a solar lamp, significantly enhancing living conditions. SolarBuddy expresses heartfelt gratitude to Rotary International, and our team continues to work tirelessly to deliver these essential resources to isolated communities, navigating rugged terrain and adverse weather conditions.
“By providing solar lamps, we are not just illuminating homes; we are investing in the bright futures of Haray’s children, giving them the opportunity to excel academically and stay safe.” — Alex Wettstein, CEO and Founder, Fair Future Foundation.
Providing solar lights is more than just a temporary solution; it is an investment in the future. These lights enable children to study at home for longer periods, leading to better academic results and brighter career prospects. Light is critical in offering disadvantaged youth opportunities for lifelong success. With SolarBuddy lamps, children can safely extend their study sessions and improve their educational potential. Additionally, these lamps make navigating the dark and dangerous village paths safer, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
We are committed to more than just illuminating spaces. Our efforts extend to providing access to clean water, Primary Medical Care, and educational support. By focusing on the well-being and success of these communities, we aim to create equal opportunities for all. The unwavering dedication of our team on the ground, along with the support of our partners, such as Rotary International and SolarBuddy, underscores our collaborative efforts for lasting change. Together, we strive to improve lives and build a future where every child can truly shine.
