Fighting Malaria in Remote Communities: Fair Future’s Ongoing Commitment
A Visual Journey of Fair Future’s Efforts to Combat Malaria Through Research, Prevention, and Medical Action
Combating Malaria in East Sumba: An Urgent Endeavor. This gallery highlights the tireless work of Fair Future and Kawan Baik Indonesia to fight malaria in East Sumba, focusing especially on Umalulu, one of the most severely impacted areas.
From engaging with communities and conducting medical consultations to mapping high-risk areas and collecting field data, our teams strive to comprehend and mitigate malaria transmission.
Malaria is a constant presence in Umalulu, with cases occurring throughout the year. The area struggles with severe poverty, malnutrition, tuberculosis, and polio, which complicate public health initiatives even further. The absence of electricity and clean water combined with its remote location makes it one of the most challenging regions to access.
In response to this crisis, we have launched a large-scale research study to assess malaria prevalence, identify high-risk areas and formulate an effective response plan. Our teams will work alongside local health workers (Kawan Sehat) to conduct household surveys, map mosquito breeding sites and record living conditions to develop a detailed malaria control strategy.
Through this study, we will establish the foundation for future extensive malaria prevention initiatives in collaboration with Rotary International and its Rotarians Against Malaria (RAM) division. The success of our research will shape future commitments to malaria control efforts in East Sumba.
This gallery offers a visual glimpse into our efforts—from field visits and data collection to engaging with local communities and training health agents. Each image captures our dedication to saving lives and preventing malaria from continuing its devastating impact on these remote areas.
Each effort is significant, and every piece of data holds value. This study plays a vital role in the battle against malaria in Umalulu.
We cordially invite all captivated by this story to explore our photo gallery, witness this extraordinary effort, and further engage with our mission through our Instagram account.
