The Kawan Baik Indonesia Foundation - The Good Friends Foundation

Kawan Baik means "Good friends” | Kawan Pintar means “Smart Friends” | Kawan Sehat means “Healthy Friends” and Yayasan means “Foundation”. Kawan Baik Indonesia Foundation is born!

Kawan Baik is an Indonesian medico-social foundation focusing on providing appropriate access for health and education services for disadvantaged people across the archipelago of Indonesia.

Dear Madam, Dear Sir, dear friends and dear families,

It has been 12 years since we became an official Swiss foundation, recognized as a pure public utility. If it's been a long time now, you know? We did it! You also know what we faced in this extraordinary adventure... In more than ten years of existence, this now (in November 2019) more than 150'000 people who have received care, healthcare, help, food from us.

☞ Kawan Baik Indonesia Foundation, the little sister!

Kawan Baik was born and well-born. Created in 2019 by the Fair Future Foundation, it is composed of an Indonesian team motivated by innovative ideas. And for many years to come, the foundation became their "big sister". Support, help and advice in the form of team building, small local foundations or projects around health, we decided to create Kawan Baik to see big, bigger and further... Far away even! But especially to give a chance to all those who live in areas where nothing is done, or electricity does not exist and water is a commodity so rare that it becomes valuable. Eastern Indonesia, Sumba, Flores, Papua.

Kawan Baik was created by a group of close friends who share the same interests for volunteering, the human in all its humanity. The founders of Kawan Baik, have a great experience in the various fields of humanitarian, caring, and for whom to "give hands" means something. With their baggage and multiple experiences, they have agreed, in agreement with the Fair Future Foundation, to partner to help those who do not have access to education and health services. This is because of the difficult geographical situation and access to their living place, their villages, their houses.

☞ The first big project or Kawan Baik

100% supported and funded by the Fair Future Foundation, this an original and unique socio-medical project around photography. We are happy to introduce you to the "Sumba Photo Stories" project.

During the first year since its inception, KBI concentrates their activities in the eastern part of Indonesia, particularly in Sumba Island, one of the outermost and disadvantaged islands in Indonesia that experience inequality in both physical and non-physical development.

  • In the health sector, the KBI foundation particularly concerns on the issues related to nutrition, as well as women and children's health, including sanitation and hygiene;
  • In the field of education, the foundation will mostly act on enhancing the capacity for school-age children through non-formal education, such as training and workshop;
  • It will also improve facilities that support learning activities, including libraries, reading centre, and classes that are established for specific objectives;
  • In addition, KBI will carry out efforts to help communities during emergency situations, such as natural disasters;

Kawan Baik foundation will be actively involved in disaster relief by focusing on health and education services. And as you know, there are many natural disasters in this area.
