What Pak Kudu Huring and the village residents have accomplished with the Water Connections program is solid. A 5,000-liter tank now provides clean water to schoolchildren. This transformation improves children’s health by reducing illnesses linked to contaminated water. Nearly 600 people in the village now have access to life-saving drinking water, improving their overall quality of life.

For this new “Photo of the Day,” we showcase what Pak Kudu Huring and its residents have accomplished by cooperating in developing Water Connections infrastructures. The village now has several tanks that hold over 5,000 litres, providing pure, uncontaminated water to children attending the nearby school.
Clean Water for children: The construction of reservoirs and the provision of sanitation facilities bring about a significant transformation in the lives of the villagers. Having access to clean, healthy water, children can easily carry several litres to school without getting sick. This clean water allows them to cook, eat and drink at home, improving the standard of living for everyone involved. These infrastructures are vital to sustaining life and are crucial weapons against infectious diseases wreaking havoc within the community.
Access to clean water greatly affects children’s health. When diseases linked to contaminated water, such as Malaria, diarrhoea, typhoid fever, and dysentery, are reduced through clean water, the immediate and long-term effects on children improve. For example, it reduces sick days, thereby increasing school attendance while allowing them to concentrate better on their studies without being weakened by recurrent infections.
Clean water is not a luxury, but a fundamental necessity. Through the Water Connections program, we are ensuring children and their families in ultra-rural villages have access to safe, life-preserving water.” — Alex Wettstein, CEO and Founder of Fair Future
Building a reservoir in villages like Laindatang, Hambarita, or Lapinu would require enormous logistical infrastructure tomorrow. The lack of roads, electricity, and water poses formidable obstacles to constructing these vast structures. After almost five months of work on-site in Laindatang, we are still drilling today. This will soon allow families to have better access to additional water for gardening and washing themselves. We will quickly present the progress in the “Photo of the Day” section!
Nearly 600 people have experienced improvements since the school gained access to Clean Water and toilets. Thanks to these improvements, the well-being of more than 80 children has significantly increased. Safe and clean water is not a privilege but rather a fundamental necessity for everyone’s survival and health.
Contaminated water can cause death, so we strive to ensure that everyone, everywhere, has easy access to uncontaminated running water, an essential source of vitality and good health.
