To follow up on yesterday’s News which presented a photo gallery of the situation following the catastrophic floods in early April 2021 (the days after and what we had to face), here is another photo gallery that presents some of the actions carried out during the three weeks which followed this disaster.

Thousands of patients, medical care, hundreds of wounds to treat, a few tons of drugs donated, hundreds of kilos of vitamins, minerals, tens of tons of food, hundreds of thousands of liters of water, nearly 100 water tanks, including metal frames, fittings, pipes so that families, villages, communities, and vulnerable people do not die of hunger or thirst.

All this continues today, we are entering the phase of reconstruction, repairs, planning of important works too. In particular, how to supply water to tens of thousands of people who no longer have enough. How do you ensure a healthy life when food is scarce? How can they also be treated when drugs are scarce?

Fair Future Foundation, Kawan Baik Indonesia, and their good friends there (Sumba Volunteer, SOPAM in particular), are doing what they can and it’s huge. It is even mind-boggling what we have managed to put in place in such a short time.

We have called for help from the Swiss authorities (because Fair Future is a Swiss NGO recognised federal no: CH-550.1.057.027-8), in order to request logistical, material, and financial support, aimed at acquiring the drugs that we lack. cruelly, the tanks of 5500 liters, food, means of reconstructing houses, irrigation canals. For the moment, the Swiss Embassy in Jakarta remains deaf to our request (ref. News here).

It is extremely damaging for the population because nothing is happening in terms of medical means, food, and solutions. Once again, we are alone with the Sumba volunteers. Jakarta’s central government is doing too little, far less than it should too. Therefore, we lack everything.

Once again, Fair Future is the only foreign NGO there. Everything we do is done with the Swiss flags on our t-shirts. I believe that the nearly one hundred people who make up those who work 18 hours a day convey a strong image of Switzerland and its power of mutual aid. They all know who we are and imagine that Switzerland is helping them. But no, just a small « Vaudoise » NGO, which works miracles thanks to all of you, our donors, who make this incredible work possible.

We need many things, especially drugs and medicines, water thanks, pipes, tools, construction materials, food, water…

About water solutions, like drilling wells (a well 40m deep, through which water will flow clean to consume, for nearly 200 people, all-inclusive: pump, pipes, borehole, etc …) costs $. 2’800.-. You can support one well here.

The Fair Future Foundation team, who wrote this news, directly from what is the largest medical and social camp in the eastern region of Indonesia (NTT), the home of Fair Future and Kawan Baik Indonesia, who is called « Rumah Kambera« , house of Kambera, named after the village that welcomes us, in the heart of the area most devastated by this disaster.

Thank you so much for helping us. We need medicines, donations, medical supplies, food… Do not forget us and them!
