Tirza, 24, connects hospital care with village health in Mbatakapidu through knowledge and action.
From public hospital nurse to Kawan Sehat volunteer, Tirza educates, treats, and leads her community.
In the rural village of Mbatakapidu, 24-year-old Tirza serves as a living bridge between formal healthcare and remote community needs. By profession, she is a nurse at Waingapu Public Hospital, but her true impact extends far beyond the hospital walls. As a volunteer Kawan Sehat health agent, she provides essential care, education, and preventive outreach in a region where many families live hours from any clinic.
Today, Erwin—Fair Future’s “MediRider”—refills Tirza’s medical backpack. While he doesn’t advise her clinically, their exchange strengthens program delivery as she is fully trained. They review the latest updates in the Kawan Sehat app, discuss coordination strategies, and share improvements in health data tracking.
Their visit leads them to Taman Baca, Cahaya Anak Sumba, a simple outdoor reading garden Tirza created for children in her village. Here, health education becomes an interactive activity. With the Kawan Sehat book in hand, Tirza teaches young children how to wash their hands, eat nutritiously, and recognise signs of illness. These lessons, otherwise unavailable, become critical tools for long-term well-being.
After the session, Tirza opens her care station. Villagers arrive one by one, seeking advice, wound care, or medicines. Her approach is holistic and human: She listens, informs, treats, and builds trust without expecting anything in return. In every sense, she embodies the mission of Fair Future and Kawan Baik: equitable healthcare that is close, consistent, and community-led.
Tirza is not only a nurse. She is a leader, a caregiver, and a powerful symbol of what local health empowerment can achieve when knowledge, compassion, and the right tools come together.
