We will construct seven ferrocement tanks in Laindatang to provide clean water to isolated families. Three of these are funded, but four are still needed. We require CHF 2,300.- for each tank. Your support guarantees access to clean water for the most remote communities. Donate now and be part of this life-changing project.

Mapping Change: Building, Healing, and Transforming Lives
At Fair Future, our interactive maps go beyond traditional tools; they document our efforts in delivering healthcare, clean water, electricity, and essential services to remote communities. These maps guide our actions with concrete data.
They help us examine terrain, measure distances, assess needs, and monitor disease prevalence, identifying villages lacking clean water or facing high rates of malaria or polio, crucial for health interventions. They support initiatives like Zero Malaria by highlighting at-risk households, allowing us to screen entire villages and organize medical responses.
Our maps also monitor the effects of education and electrification initiatives. They pinpoint schools without electricity, aiding the distribution of SolarBuddy lamps so children can study safely at night. Additionally, they help ensure Kawan Sehat agents reach communities in need of medical resources.
More than just logistics, these maps serve as a repository of our collective memory. They capture both structural developments and the life-changing impacts: previously underserved healthcare areas now have trained workers, while places lacking clean water have reservoirs and filtration systems, leading to decreased malaria rates.
Importantly, a map is never complete. It evolves with our projects, adapting to needs and new challenges. These maps are tangible evidence of how your support transforms lives in ultra-rural Indonesia.
Explore them and see how strategic actions and community empowerment create lasting change.

The Primary Medical Care Project
Fair Future’s interactive Primary Medical Care Map is more than just a collection of locations—it’s a dynamic tool for enhancing access to healthcare in rural areas. Each marker represents a Kawan Sehat health agent delivering essential medical care to communities without doctors or hospitals.
These agents assist 700 to 1,000 patients monthly, addressing urgent needs and preventing disease outbreaks. The map is a real-time document, helping us analyze data and plan strategically for areas needing support.
Explore the data and witness the transformation. Each point signifies a life change and a step toward universal healthcare access.
SolarBuddy - School Without Electricity
Bring Light to Remote Schools: The SolarBuddy Distribution Map
Fair Future’s SolarBuddy Distribution Map vividly illustrates life in Sumba-South, where many children study in darkness. Each marker signifies a school lacking electricity, leaving families to navigate life at night without reliable light.
The SolarBuddy program provides solar lamps for each child and their home, transforming lives. These lamps empower children to walk home safely, study at night, assist with cooking, and fetch water without danger. This source of light enhances education, safety, and overall living conditions for thousands.
Our interactive map tracks schools in East Sumba that lack electricity and will soon receive solar lighting, paving the way for a brighter future.
Zero Malaria Program - Site of Umalulu
Mapping Malaria: Initiating the Journey in Umalulu
This interactive map signifies the launch of Fair Future’s Zero Malaria initiative in Umalulu, East Sumba, an area where malaria continues to pose a significant public health challenge. Encompassing 400 households, this map serves as the cornerstone of our efforts—a comprehensive survey detailing health risks, living conditions, and infection hotspots.
We will collect essential data, evaluate needs, and create tailored solutions in the coming month. This is only the beginning. Our aim is to extend our efforts throughout all of East Sumba, systematically decreasing malaria transmission and safeguarding thousands of lives—starting right here in Umalulu.
Zero Malaria Program - Site of Mahu
The Mahu Operation: Aiming for Zero Malaria
Between July and September 2023, Fair Future initiated a large-scale Zero Malaria campaign in Mahu, East Sumba. This extensive effort reached over 10,000 individuals through door-to-door testing and treatment initiatives. The operation managed to screen 90% of households and cover 85% of the population by administering tens of thousands of rapid tests along with nearly 2,500 blood screenings.
Hundreds of patients diagnosed with malaria received prompt treatment, effectively preventing the spread of infections. This initiative ranks among our most significant malaria interventions, demonstrating that early detection and rapid response can save lives in this heavily affected region.
Water Connections project - Site of Laindatang
The Laindatang Initiative: Water Connections
This map showcases the Water Connections project in Laindatang, a particularly impoverished and arid region where Fair Future has been actively involved. We have constructed rainwater storage reservoirs, fitted gutters and filtration systems on homes and schools, and renovated or established new sanitation facilities.
We are currently attempting to drill a deep well and intend to build a 110 cubic meter reservoir to ensure year-round access to clean water. Additionally, we have launched the Zero Malaria program and installed a handwashing station with eight sinks at the village school. This initiative will benefit 80 children who previously lacked clean water or electricity access.
Water Connections project - Site of Lapinu
Connecting Lapinu to Clean Water
This map highlights the Water Connections initiative in Lapinu, an extremely isolated village lacking access to clean water, sanitation, and electricity. In November 2024, our team carried out a feasibility study to determine the most effective approach for ensuring sustainable water access.
Lapinu is among the most remote locations we serve, accessible only by off-road vehicles. Our aim is to finish this critical project within three months in 2025, contingent upon securing essential funding. The initiative involves drilling a well, constructing reservoirs, and installing sanitation facilities. In the meantime, two Primary Medical Care health agents remain dedicated to supporting the village with basic healthcare services despite its inadequate infrastructure.
Water Connections project - Site of MbinuDita - East Sumba
Reconstructing Mbinudita: The Transformation of a Community
This interactive map showcases the remarkable accomplishments of the Rebuild Mbinudita project, one of Fair Future’s most extensive initiatives. In just four years, we have constructed water reservoirs, toilets, deep wells, underground pipelines, a school building and medical dispensaries as well as community spaces—amounting to nearly 100 completed structures in all.
With six Kawan Sehat health agents positioned in Mbinudita, the area has become a benchmark for clean water access, sanitation, and healthcare. This initiative has improved conditions for 2,500 residents by promoting better health practices, enhancing education opportunities, and fostering long-term resilience. Explore the map to witness the enduring impact of these efforts.

Recovery Efforts Following the 2021 Wangapu-Lambanapu Floods
This interactive map illustrates Fair Future’s emergency response to the devastating floods that struck East Sumba in April 2021. The extraordinary rainfall caused landslides, triggered the collapse of a significant dam, and wreaked havoc on homes and infrastructure. Overnight, thousands lost everything they had; subsequently, with irrigation systems obliterated by the deluge, an escalating water crisis has imperiled food security for entire communities.
Fair Future sprang into action without delay, operating around the clock for weeks to deliver medical aid, emergency food supplies, and clean water. In the ensuing months and years, our teams concentrated on long-term recovery efforts by rebuilding essential infrastructure, restoring irrigation systems, and helping families reclaim their lives.
This map serves as a vital testament to our accomplishments in tackling this crisis. It highlights how, during times of disaster, Fair Future responds promptly and effectively, demonstrating unwavering dedication to restoring dignity and resilience for those who need it most.
