Rambu Veronika’s Journey Through Treacherous Terrain to Deliver Healthcare in Ultra-Rural East Sumba.
The new “Picture of the Day” features Rambu Veronika, one of our remarkable Kawan Sehat Health Agents, making her way determinedly up a steep hill under a blazing sun. Her mission is twofold: To reach her school, where children need medical attention, and to visit a family with a sick member. The journey is perilous, filled with slippery rocks and harsh weather conditions, ranging from relentless heat to pouring rain, but Veronika continues undeterred.
She carries her medical backpack, fully stocked with essential supplies such as medicines, bandages, disinfectants, and compresses—everything needed to provide care. The backpack also contains Fair Future’s distinctive fabric posters that educate families about prevention and treatment. Veronika’s step brings not only concrete solutions but also relief and empathy to her community, which lacks doctors, clinics, and accessible medicines.
“Every step Veronika takes through dangerous trails is a step closer to saving a life, proving that compassion knows no boundaries.”
– Alex Wettstein, CEO and Founder of Fair Future
