The Primary Medical Care Program Provides Essential Emergency Medical Aid, Including Venomous Snake Bite Treatment and Wound Stabilization.
This other “Photo of the Day“ shows Alex making a surgical incision on the foot of a young man in Hambarita who had been bitten by one of the area’s deadliest snakes. Alex and the Fair Future Foundation team’s quick action allowed the young man to receive medical care and medication quickly, saving his life. Currently, he is recovering well.
A few weeks ago, we accompanied members of Rotary and teams from the Fair Future and Kawan Baik foundations to Hambarita to assess how we could help this impoverished village, which lacks water, electricity, medical care, adequate food, and road connections. During this visit, we discovered a young man in his twenties who had recently been bitten on the foot by a highly venomous snake.
So we went to his bamboo and earth house and found his living conditions unstable. If we had not been in the village at that precise moment, he could have perished. Fortunately, we were in Laindatang for our usual Water Connections program duties here and had the Truck of Life filled with medical supplies with us. We provided essential first aid with the necessary medical equipment, including making an incision to remove the venom and administering appropriate medical treatment.
Emergency medical aid is crucial in rural areas where access to care is limited. Our Primary Medical Care program empowers local health workers to save lives by providing essential first aid and treatment.” – Alex Wettstein, CEO and Founder of Fair Future Foundation
The primary medical care program aims to equip people in remote villages, especially women active in their communities, with essential medical knowledge and skills. This allows them to administer primary medical care, such as treating wounds, dispensing medications, and monitoring blood pressure, to prevent injuries or illnesses from worsening and even save lives.
The primary medical care program focuses on saving and preserving life. It trains local health workers, enabling them to act quickly and administer initial medical assistance in an emergency. This training has saved countless lives every day for over two years.
This photograph clearly shows how crucial our presence and efforts are in these isolated areas. Every action we take demonstrates our beneficial influence on these vulnerable communities. We are very proud to have made substantial changes possible thanks to your support and kindness.
With your help, we will continue to provide training, education, and healing services. Our collective efforts can pave the way to a safer and healthier future for people residing in remote areas. The primary medical care initiative goes beyond symptom management; it strives to improve the local community’s ability to maintain its health.
