[…] photograph captures the essence of the Primary Medical Care program. In the foreground stands Mirna, a resilient and courageous woman from Mbinudita village, as she measures the blood pressure of another woman from an ultra-rural settlement. As a Kawan Sehat health agent, she is committed to delivering crucial healthcare in areas lacking medical services. Carrying a medical backpack filled with over 100 crucial items, including medicines, equipment, and supplies, she has everything necessary for treating injuries, managing illnesses, and saving lives. In this area where clean water is rare (electricity non-existent) amid relentless humidity—residents depend completely on agents like Mirna. Without her help thousands in the region would lack healthcare access—and receive no care for wounds infections high fevers or chronic ailments either! However, Mirna’s responsibilities go beyond merely addressing injuries and illnesses. She educates families on leading healthier lifestyles by advising them on better eating habits, the importance of clean water, maintaining hygiene, and disease prevention. The efforts of Kawan Sehat Health Agents are not just focused on treating diseases; they aim to transform lives through education and compassionate care. “Healthcare should not be a privilege Mira brings care where no doctors exist saving lives every day in forgotten […]

Fighting Malaria in Umalulu: A Critical Study for a Healthier Future Understanding and Fighting Malaria in One of Indonesia’s Most Affected Regions Conducting malaria research in Umalulu to develop urgent health solutions for affected communities. Hello, everyone. It’s Alex. Malaria remains one of the most pressing health challenges in East Sumba, particularly in the remote area of Umalulu. Without access to electricity, clean water, or basic healthcare facilities, residents of Umalulu face alarming rates of malaria infections throughout the year. The lack of reliable data on malaria prevalence makes a thorough field study even more crucial. Before launching a large-scale intervention, we need to understand the scale of the problem, the contributing factors, and the population’s immediate needs. Our local and Swiss teams, which include local health workers, will collect […]
