To reach ultra-rural villages, we rely on the Truck of Life to navigate rough, broken roads. This vehicle allows us to deliver essential supplies, including medicines, water, tools, solar kits, and food. Logistics play a crucial role in our program; without access to fuel, spare parts, and the commitment to long days on the road, we would be unable to reach the patients in need.

Our programs focus on preventing and treating diseases like malaria, dysentery, and polio, which are the leading causes of infant mortality. By integrating health education, primary medical care, and access to clean water, we work to improve the health and well-being of women, children, and families in East Sumba and beyond.
The Healthcare Access category of Fair Future Foundation highlights the challenges and solutions for improving healthcare in ultra-rural Indonesia. These stories show how we bring medical care to those who need it most, overcoming barriers like distance, infrastructure, and cost. Through mobile clinics, training health agents, and innovative approaches, we ensure that every family has the chance to receive the care and support they deserve, no matter how remote.
In ultra-rural regions, people do not die from rare diseases, but from delays and absence of care. Primary Medical Care restores continuity where systems stop, reducing preventable illness through presence rather than technology.
In MbinuDita, Kawan Sehat health work began with two women and a backpack. After more than three years as the first call for fevers, wounds and malaria, Agustina and Ferias end their mission, return their equipment and help prepare new agents so village care grows from twenty to thirty trained workers.
In Lahiru, Kawan Sehat health workers Sarlota and Yosef wake with the sun, walk steep paths for water, farm the hillsides and open their house as a small clinic. This film lets you follow their routine of cooking, washing, treating fevers and wounds so neighbors in a remote village can stay on their feet.
Fair Future’s Truck of Life delivers emergency supplies and medical care to villages unreachable by normal vehicles. It’s our most powerful tool for urgent response and ongoing humanitarian support.
Fair Future and Kawan Baik Foundations delivers over 40 types of medical equipment to RSUD Waingapu, the only referral hospital for 800000 people in East Sumba. This life-saving donation strengthens neonatal, surgical, diagnostic, and emergency care.
Throughout a full day dedicated to primary medical care, our teams screened and treated over 150 patients with an emphasis on malaria and tuberculosis. The provision of vaccinations, medications, and health education not only saved lives but also fostered trust within the community.
In East Sumba the road often ends long before sickness does. With the Truck of Life mobile clinic we drive where there are no doctors, no pharmacies, sometimes not even a road at all, to offer examinations, treatment, prevention, and follow up to families otherwise left alone for years with pain and unanswered questions.

In 2024, Fair Future’s PMC Program significantly improved ultra-rural communities by offering essential healthcare services, education, and life-saving solutions. This initiative addresses the severe shortage of medical resources in remote areas with limited access to basic health facilities and trained personnel.
#MediRider: Erwin, our field coordinator, replenishes the medical backpacks of Kawan Sehat agents with essential supplies such as medications, dressings, and disinfectants. Riding a Revo scooter, he transports these resources to remote villages so health agents are equipped to provide treatment and save lives. An indispensable element of #PrimaryMedicalCare!
