Our Honda EU22i generator stands outside a community care day in East Sumba, with families gathered behind it. Donated by Rotary friends in Mandurah, Australia, with the help of our dear friend John Kevan, it brings electricity to places where our teams often have none.
We need that power for medical equipment, rechargeable devices and microscopes when we examine samples, including for malaria. It also runs the speaker and microphone used during health education. A consultation and a lesson both need practical tools that work.
To John and everyone at Rotary who made this possible, thank you, from all of us here. Your steadfast support reaches far beyond the equipment itself. It helps our teams examine patients, share knowledge and keep working where access to care is difficult. A generator, too, has a part to play in saving lives.
