We want to share an inspiring story of collaboration and commitment, highlighting the power of friendship and teamwork. This story sheds light on the crucial role Rotary Australia and John played in our mission to support vulnerable communities in East Sumba, Indonesia.
For several months now, Rotary Australia has been by our side, offering invaluable support to FFF. This support represents an incredible act of recognition and friendship for our organization and all our dedicated teams. Together, we are working on essential programs that directly impact the lives of the communities we serve.
These vital initiatives include access to clean water and sanitation facilities and the fight against infectious diseases, including our malaria control program in Sumba. John from Rotary Australia conducted a field visit on July 18th of this year to better understand the challenges faced by these extremely disadvantaged regions. For four intense days, we travelled to all the areas where our programs are active. This experience allowed John to grasp the harsh reality of this region, marked by poverty and disease.
This visit was unforgettable for John and our entire team, especially Alex, our founder and president, who dedicates all his time and heart to our projects. John had the opportunity to meet our collaborators and over sixty volunteers involved in our social and medical actions. He also had the chance to engage with many families living in ultra-rural areas where access to water, electricity, food, and primary healthcare is limited or nonexistent.
During his visit, John witnessed the efforts made by the Fair Future Foundation to improve the situation despite the lack of adequate professional resources. He saw our achievements and provided helpful and constructive feedback. Moreover, John took the extraordinary initiative to purchase nearly $600 worth of essential tools and equipment, which was a true blessing for Primus, responsible for construction.
In collaboration with Rotary, we have upcoming significant projects that will save thousands of lives. On behalf of Fair Future, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rotary Australia, outlining our shared commitment to work together harmoniously.
We are deeply grateful to Rotary Australia and our friend John for their support, commitment, and investment in our efforts to improve the lives of vulnerable communities in East Sumba. This collaboration is a concrete example of moving mountains together and achieving what sometimes resembles miracles.
Stay tuned to discover all the exciting initiatives we will implement in the coming months. Your continued support is essential to make these projects a reality and contribute to a better future for the people of East Sumba.
Thank you very much. Alexandre Wettstein from the Foundation’s Medico-Social Camp in East Sumba, Rumah Kambera, Lambanapu, on September 3rd, 2023
