Wherever we are working, cases & environments is unique. Nevertheless, Fair Future & Kawan Baik Indonesia follow a common set of practices designed to ensure that their resources & expertise are used in an optimal and respectful manner.
We are improving the health of populations through access to clean water, by creating deep wells, water networks, sanitary facilities by building toilets, showers, watertight tanks of more than 6,000 litres, which allow keeping the water away from light, at normal temperature, in order to reduce the risk of water conservation.
Today at the end of March 2022, we can say that this water that we have been looking for more than 50m deep, sometimes several kilometres from the reservoirs that we have built with the villagers of #sdmbinudita, is safe for consumption. We have tested it & it is healthy, even mineral. The alkalinity is also good, which is perfect for neutralising acids. Its level is 180mg/l (Optimal level is 20-200 mg/litre).
This water, which is now contained in these new reservoirs, extends into several RT (groups of typical Sumbanese Houses). It will bring health, income because they will be able to sell their vegetables. This will have an impact on underweight & malnutrition problems, as they will be able to eat produce from their gardens. The reduction in child morbidity & serious diseases intrinsically linked to poor water quality & the consequences of related diseases will also decrease.
These kids will have more strength to walk the several km that separate them from school, they will be able to concentrate more, no longer fall asleep at school, assimilate in an optimal way the teachings of the teachers, they will be able to take a shower every day, eat more than once a day too. And so many other things that have already changed; we see it every day here as part of the #waterconnections project.
Out of 6 reservoirs built by us, 90% are made by the villagers. They learned with us, they duplicate and we are there to help them.
