Fair Future continues its groundbreaking work in Laindatang, one of the driest regions in the world. For over two years, the Fair Future Foundation has provided vital medical assistance to thousands in remote areas, especially children and vulnerable individuals. As we enter our third year, we aim to enhance our efforts by providing education, improving logistics, and increasing medical equipment availability. Fair Future has developed educational posters to raise awareness of health and hygiene practices in remote areas of Indonesia. These materials cover topics such as balanced nutrition, malaria prevention, and proper handwashing techniques. Our goal is to provide visually engaging displays that strengthen our education and prevention efforts, significantly improving living standards for those we serve.
In ultra-rural villages where access is challenging, Fair Future brings clean water and vital health education. The dedicated teams teach residents and school staff about hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention. This #WaterConnections project benefits nearly 800 people, including 60% children, highlighting the transformative power of clean water and education.
This new “Picture of the Day” shows Ayu spending time with a child from Laindatang in East Sumba, where we have been working for over two years as part of the #WaterConnections and #ZeroMalaria programs. Ayu will measure this child along with 78 others, and also weigh him to assess his hygiene and determine whether he is doing well and gaining weight.
Our main objective is to improve the standard of living of ultra-rural communities while ensuring their sustainable development. We pay particular attention to promoting the growth and physical well-being of children, as malnutrition remains a significant problem affecting approximately 15–20% of young people. This means that hundreds of children are facing weight and nutrition issues that concern us deeply.
We provide healthcare programs that educate parents, villagers, and schools in ultra-rural areas about good nutrition. Due to the extreme poverty and isolation in these regions, healthy eating habits are often unfamiliar concepts. Therefore, we provide them with nutritious meals made with local ingredients while teaching them to grow their own gardens for a healthier diet.
Our approach emphasises crucial skills such as eating vegetables as often as possible, drinking clean water through our #WaterConnections initiative, and protecting yourself from infectious diseases by adopting preventative measures.
One of our team members can be seen in this new Picture of the Day, watching over a child. Our mission is to weigh, measure and evaluate hundreds of children every week to ensure their medical and hygienic well-being. This evaluation is essential to determine the effectiveness of our on-site programs. We have witnessed impressive results: Better access to water has improved nutrition, which has translated into increased vitality, better health, and an overall healthier lifestyle.

The 10th World Water Forum has come to a close, but our mission persists. At the Fair Future Foundation, we are dedicated to tackling the global water crisis by supplying clean water to the most remote and underprivileged communities. Despite facing challenges and setbacks, our resolve remains steadfast. The driving question that motivates us is, “If We Don’t Do It, Then Who Will?” This question propels our efforts each and every day.
In remote regions where darkness limits access to education and safety, the SolarBuddy program provides a beacon of hope. These solar-powered lamps are not just sources of light; they are tools for learning and safety, significantly improving the lives of children by expanding educational opportunities and reducing nighttime risks.
In East Sumba, the Fair Future Foundation’s #WaterConnections project has improved access to clean water and hygiene. This initiative has reduced infectious diseases and improved living conditions by installing washbasins and handwashing stations. The Foundation has provided clean water to over 600 people in Laindatang, demonstrating the positive impact of their efforts.

Eben’s journey from being a polio survivor to becoming an artist is central to Fair Future’s 15-year celebration.
