This ongoing commitment is a lifeline to our communities as we strive to improve health outcomes and save lives in the face of significant challenges.
The Water Connections program aims to provide fair and safe access to clean water. This initiative not only prevents diseases and reduces health risks, but also sustains lives, decreases infant mortality, and promotes economic prosperity.
Why is access to clean water and sanitation crucial for all of us?
In the rural areas of Eastern Indonesia where our operations are focused, the presence of contaminated water and inadequate sanitation facilities contributes to the rampant spread of life-threatening diseases. Cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid, and poliomyelitis pose a grave risk to the local population, especially children and vulnerable individuals. However, #WaterConnections is dedicated to transforming this grim reality into one of hope and progress.
Our core mission revolves around ensuring fair and reliable access to sufficient quantities of safe water, thereby preventing the outbreak of diseases and safeguarding lives and livelihoods. We are committed to addressing environmental health risks by promoting safe and dignified sanitation practices, actively involving both women and men in the management of water and sanitation resources, and fostering hygienic behaviors that benefit the entire community.
The #WaterConnections initiative involves the establishment of a comprehensive drinking water network tailored to the needs of families residing in rural areas of Eastern Indonesia. Each water facility encompasses gender-specific toilets, showers, and reliable access to life-sustaining drinking water. These strategically placed water points have a profound impact on the overall health and well-being of the population, particularly children. By utilizing innovative techniques such as harnessing the natural slope of the land, harnessing solar energy, and employing hydrodynamic pumps, we create expansive water networks that originate from a single borehole. This approach significantly reduces infant mortality, birth complications, and the prevalence of serious illnesses caused by consuming unsafe water. Moreover, it greatly improves living conditions, generates economic opportunities, and enhances general well-being within the communities we serve.
At Fair Future, we firmly believe that access to clean water and proper sanitation is not only a fundamental human right but also a catalyst for positive change. By addressing these critical needs, we empower communities, stimulate economic growth, and uplift the mental well-being of individuals. Together, let us forge a path towards a healthier and more prosperous future for all.
