These seven water tanks will bring clean water to most isolated families
Three are already funded and we need your help for the other four
A remote family in Laindatang still walks daily for water. Help fund a Water tank.
For three years, Fair Future Foundation has been transforming access to clean water in the villages of Hambarita and Laindatang, part of Mbatakapidu, a remote area in East Sumba. The progress is undeniable: reservoirs, toilets, and water supply systems now serve most of the community.
However, seven isolated families still do not have direct access to water, forcing them to walk kilometres daily to collect what they can from distant sources.
To solve this, we committed to building seven ferrocement reservoirs. Three are fully funded and will be implemented in the 2nd semester of 2025—a huge thank you to our donors.
But four remain unfunded, and we need your support to complete them. These water tanks will provide a sustainable, long-term solution for families still struggling with water insecurity. Without clean water, health, education, and opportunity suffer. These final four reservoirs will ensure no family in Hambarita and Laindatang is left behind.
The Reality for These Families
While significant progress has been made in improving water access across the village thanks to Fair Future, several remote families remain trapped in an ongoing struggle for clean water, facing daily hardships that impact their well-being and future:
- ☑️ They depend on rainwater collected in small, inadequate containers.
- ☑️ In the dry season, they must walk 3 to 5 km daily to find water.
- ☑️ Buying water is costly, unreliable, and often undeliverable due to impassable roads.
This ongoing struggle jeopardizes their health, disrupts education, and limits economic opportunities. Access to clean water would mean children staying in school, healthier families, and stronger community resilience.

One Reservoir = One Family with Clean Water for Life
Each ferrocement reservoir holds +/- 5,000 litres and includes a rainwater filtration system to ensure safe drinking water. Once built, these reservoirs will last for over a decade.
What It Takes to Build One Reservoir:
- ☑️ Cost: CHF 2,200 – 2,500 (including transportation of materials, which is a major challenge)
- ☑️ Capacity: 5,000 liters of clean, filtered rainwater
- ☑️ Lifespan: Over 10 years – Check the PDF here about how we build Water Reservoir in Ferro-Ciment
The Water Connections project in Laindatang is already well underway. Over the past two and a half years, we have established the infrastructure, trained local teams, and built the first systems. Now, only four reservoirs stand between these families and lasting water security.
Be Part of the Solution
We are at a turning point. With just four more reservoirs, Laindatang will have full access to water. Would you consider funding one of these last four reservoirs? Or contributing towards one, knowing that every franc brings us closer to the goal? This is not about starting something new. This is about finishing what we started. Your support ensures that no family in Hambarita and Laindatang is left behind.
