Kawan Sehat Training Begins: 21 Health Workers Embark on Their Mission to Deliver Primary Health Care in Remote East Sumba.
The first day of training was truly inspiring. It brought together dedicated health workers and community leaders and laid the foundation for a week of meaningful learning and community development.
The inaugural day of the Kawan Sehat Health Workers Training has commenced, bringing energy and optimism to our medical-social base camp. Twenty-one dedicated individuals, many from remote areas of East Sumba, gathered to participate in this comprehensive Primary Medical Care program. The initiative aims to equip them with the necessary skills to deliver life-saving health services in their communities, where access to medical facilities is limited.
Ayu, the Director of Kawan Baik Indonesia, welcomed the participants warmly, praising their dedication and the significant impact they could make in people’s lives. Officials from the Local Government Health and Social Services Department (PEMDA) highlighted the initiative’s critical role in regional development, underscoring the collaborative spirit behind providing sustainable health solutions in East Sumba.
Dr. Purba enthusiastically joined the team, charming everyone with his introduction and inspiring vision for the program’s future. As training began, health workers received backpacks filled with medical supplies and essential first aid kits, generating palpable excitement as they explored these new tools.
Dr. Narni led an important session on fundamental therapies, focusing on proper medication administration and dosage. This allowed participants to practice their skills and build confidence. Simultaneously, our field coordinator Erwin demonstrated the Kawan Sehat app, streamlining patient data tracking for improved coordination and response efficiency.
The day’s objectives included developing practical skills in medication protocols and effective communication. By the session’s end, participants had gained valuable knowledge, reflecting their strong commitment to enhancing community health.
