Together with Hambarita villagers, we are building reservoirs to supply clean water to every home.
A collective effort to construct eight ferrocement tanks for rural access to clean water.
In Hambarita, over forty villagers joined us for the launch of a transformative Water Connections project. This rural community faces significant challenges, including a lack of electricity, inadequate medical facilities, and limited access to clean water. The involvement of elders, families, and youth highlighted our commitment as we explained plans to build eight ferrocement reservoirs, each holding 4,500 to 5,300 litres.
We distributed printed materials so that everyone could participate in lively, hopeful discussions. A key part of the project is that these reservoirs will be built by the villagers themselves, with our guidance at every step. This not only ensures access to clean water but also teaches valuable skills and fosters pride in their self-reliance.
Clean water is essential for health, nutrition, and dignity. Each reservoir reduces the difficult trek for unsafe water, helping to realise one of humanity’s basic rights for families in Hambarita. Join us in this important effort alongside the Fair Future Foundation and Kawan Baik Indonesia, Swiss organisations with 16 years of experience in humanitarian work.
