Testing uncovers malaria cases outside the peak season in East Sumba villages
As part of the East Sumba Malaria Prevention Project’s ongoing efforts, our teams conducted rapid diagnostic tests in Umalulu last week.
The tests confirmed several malaria cases, including among children, adolescents, and pregnant women, despite this being “outside” the usual peak malaria season of August–November. This highlights a crucial reality: without testing, malaria remains undetected, leading to untreated individuals.
Therefore, continuous diagnostics, prevention, and education are vital in one of Indonesia’s most malaria-prone areas. Supported by Malaria Partners International, Rotary, Kawan Baik Indonesia, and the Government of East Sumba, Fair Future Foundation remains dedicated to directly combating this deadly disease.
