The pharmacy at our Rumah Kambera medical-social base camp, east of Sumba, is a crucial asset for the community, which does not have sufficient medical infrastructure.
Our goal is to improve the lives of those we serve by providing them with necessary medications and teaching them healthy habits and how to adopt them.
Dear friends, here at our Rumah Kambera Base Camp, our pharmacy fundamentally promotes health equity in East Sumba. This unique structure serves as a cornerstone of our global medical initiatives and assists the local population.
As you may have read on our website, most medical centres in the East Sumba region are facing a shortage of medicines. Our pharmacy and team are doing their best to support those who are sick, but our supplies are also running out.
Every month, we purchase medicines worth around $5,000. We are grateful to have received a gracious donation of CHF. 12,000.- last week will allow us to acquire more medicines.
We had to expand our pharmacy and install air conditioning to remedy this situation. This ensures that specific equipment, such as rapid malaria tests, laboratory regents and medicines, remain in good condition. This is exceptional because we are the only area with air conditioning.
Our assortment of essential medicines caters to various health needs. However, a rapid depletion of supplies puts the continuation of our much-needed aid at risk. Ignoring this grim reality is not an option since the medicines we supply are not simple products; they are a vital necessity for communities far from medical facilities, making access to primary health care a persistent difficulty.
The success of our efforts, namely the #PrimaryMedicalCare and #ZeroMalaria initiatives, greatly depends on the availability of our pharmacy resources. Each medication contributes significantly to our ongoing health efforts in this ultra-rural and isolated region, where medical help is scarce or simply absent.
Concerning antimalarial drugs, it is clear that they are becoming more and more expensive due to the increase in the number of cases. Licensed sellers and some local laboratories are taking advantage of the situation and making huge profits.
We invite people who wish to contribute to this cause with pharmaceutical donations or non-monetary assistance. Every act of kindness reinforces the importance of this imperative health resource. Our efforts transcend simple treatment as we strive to overcome geographic and logistical obstacles to bring action and healing to those most in need.
As a medical service provider in several regions, we bear a colossal responsibility. The need for our facilities constantly reminds us of the serious health issues facing rural communities, obstacles we face head first. In addition, our pharmacy is an essential educational hub to raise awareness of good health practices and the optimal use of medications.
Rumah Kambera Pharmacy is crucial in promoting wellness and recovery, especially in a region experiencing a shortage of such services. With your gracious help, we can expand our capabilities to reach marginalized people who need help, ensuring equal access to healthcare as we strive to build a healthier humanity together.
