Distributing mosquito nets to protect families from malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases.
Beyond the rapid test, each screening includes education, explanation, and practical advice. This moment of dialogue often becomes the first real medical consultation families have ever received, turning a diagnosis into immediate protection.
This article reports field dates, methods and impact from East Sumba malaria prevention. Teams worked with Puskesmas, schools and village leaders to align education, IRS, LLINs and diagnostics. Data and costs are fully documented so partners and health services can improve coverage, reduce transmission and replicate what works.
We distributed 450 malaria mosquito nets across East Sumba villages. Each family received a net, printed guidance, and a sewing kit for repairs. By combining distribution with education, families learned why correct use matters for preventing deadly malaria infections.

We’re purchasing over 300 long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) to protect families from malaria in Umalulu and beyond. These high-quality, extra-resistant nets last over 5 years and are a crucial tool in our #ZeroMalaria program. Costing nearly $20 each, they are a major investment in health and prevention.
Fair Future Foundation is developing a comprehensive Malaria Prevention Project for the Umalulu region. With a focus on prevention, education, IRS spraying, and detection, we aim to significantly reduce malaria rates and ensure long-term impact through local capacity building.

Don’t confuse Dengue with Malaria. While Dengue is common in cities, Malaria is endemic in rural areas where we work. This photo shows the source of Malaria infection, mainly transmitted by infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. Without treatment, Malaria can become severe and fatal within 24 hours. We continue the fight through our #ZeroMalaria program.
