About these Publications
This collection brings together a variety of educational resources produced by Fair Future Foundation and Kawan Baik Indonesia, addressing the pressing needs of ultra-rural communities in Eastern Indonesia. In these areas, access to healthcare, education, and clean water can be critically lacking. The materials provided here are more than theoretical—they are practical tools, developed through direct engagement with the communities they aim to serve.
Included are vividly illustrated health booklets for children, medical training manuals tailored for Kawan Sehat health agents, and fundamental guides from our Primary Medical Care program, such as “Where There Is No Doctor.” Additionally, you will find step-by-step manuals for constructing 5,000-liter ferrocement water tanks, hygiene and sanitation guides, and resources on sustainable agriculture to enhance family nutrition.
These resources are fully accessible, easily printable, and actively distributed in schools and villages across East Sumba. Designed for use by teachers, health workers, and families, they empower local communities to improve their health and living conditions. This guidebook helps Kawan Sehat health agents explain each of Fair Future’s health education posters in schools and remote communities. With nine posters covering topics like malaria, nutrition, handwashing, tobacco, alcohol, and waste, the book offers practical tips and dialogue prompts for impactful, community-based health promotion. Malaria Survey Training Guide
This training module prepares health agents and community surveyors to conduct malaria awareness and environment risk surveys in ultra-rural Indonesia. It explains how to use digital and paper-based tools, structure interviews, identify mosquito habitats, and collect data respectfully. The guide supports Fair Future’s “Kawan Lawan Malaria” program, aiming to stop the spread of malaria through education, local knowledge, and community action—where health systems are often absent.
Training Manual for Kawan Sehat
This practical medical 144 pages book in Indonesian, created by Fair Future and Kawan Baik, is used to train Kawan Sehat health agents in ultra-rural Indonesia. It contains 14 detailed modules covering primary care, wound treatment, fever management, infection control, child health, and essential first aid techniques. Designed for communities with no access to doctors, it helps agents provide lifesaving care, make safe referrals, and educate others on hygiene, nutrition, and disease prevention.
