Following nine months of failed drilling, we've constructed a 114 m³ reservoir in Laindatang, which is entirely powered by rainwater. Almost 300 villagers, predominantly children, now have access to clean water. The project kicked off in June and is now complete. Together, we can bring an end to the water crisis.

For over twenty years, he has lived and worked in Indonesia, deeply engaging with the challenges faced by these remote areas. His leadership goes beyond strategic planning; it involves active participation in medical and social operations to ensure each initiative is both effective and responsive. Under Alex's leadership, the foundation has provided clean water to tens of thousands of people, constructed schools and healthcare facilities, and educated local communities in sustainable living practices. His innovative approach features the integration of solar power and advanced technologies such as solar water pumps, replacing polluting diesel generators used in water drilling projects. Alex has been a leading advocate in combating infectious diseases like malaria, dengue fever, tuberculosis, and those related to inadequate sanitation. He focuses on prevention and sustainable solutions that enable communities to become self-reliant and resilient. As a distinguished figure in humanitarian work, Alex was recently honored with the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition by Rotary International for his significant contributions. Furthermore, Fair Future's documentary "Matawai: Shades of Water" debuted in the remote village of Mbinudita, highlighting the pressing water crises faced by these communities and bringing global awareness to their challenges. Alex's life is characterized by action, innovation, and empathy. The Interactive Map of Water Connections Project

Fair Future develops participatory monitoring tools as part of its screening and definition of needs. This map is produced as part of the #WaterConnections project. It is updated as a new sewerage installation, a new deep borehole, a new clean water reservoir and everything that directly or indirectly affects this project is built. This Google map allows us to work, do this project and calculate: Heights, elevations, distances, depths etc… Thanks to this tool, this project is much easier to set up.

A real financial blow that affects us

Two of our MacBook Pro-type computers, owned by the foundation, broke down in less than three weeks. And the repair costs are exorbitant for us. We had to find quick solutions. There are days when nothing goes, or almost. Of course, it’s part of life. Still, when it directly affects our ability to work and significantly impacts the finances of our medical and social programs, it becomes complicated for a small foundation like ours.

The past few weeks have been hectic for all of us here in East Sumba. What a titanic job we are all doing with the help of our friends, the villagers, and members of the rural communities of Mbinudita. The nights are short, and the days are very long and hot too. Imagine, friends, it’s almost 40°, and we work under a blazing sun, which almost anaesthetizes us if we don’t hydrate ourselves enough.
